We have noticed that on some engines, probably only the hand-shifted ones before the piston engine, the material in the crankcase may need to be ground down slightly. Try with the crank and piston/cylinder mounted in one half before you assemble the engine and you will see if it applies to your engine. It is the connecting rods that may be affected.
