Honda Mopeds - A Japanese Tradition

Honda Motor Company, Limited, commonly referred to as Honda, is a Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer and engineering company headquartered in the Japanese capital of Tokyo. Honda was founded in 1948 by Soichiro Honda and Takeo Fujisawa.

Honda manufactures cars and motorcycles, trucks, scooters, mopeds, robots, jet engines, off-road vehicles, buses, electric generators, car engines, woodworking machinery, aerospace products and more. Honda is the world's largest engine manufacturer, producing more than 14 million combustion engines per year;With a production of around 5 million vehicles per year (2016), it is the seventh largest car manufacturer in the world after Toyota, Volkswagen AG, General Motors, Hyundai-Kia, Ford and Nissan.

In Sweden, Honda has been by far the most current with their famous Cross-moped model, the Honda MT-5 (Honda MT-50). Honda MT-5 is a 4-wheeled moped manufactured by Honda between 1982 and 2000. It is powered by petrol and has a petrol tank capacity of 6.8 litres, including a 1 litre reserve, and a separate oil tank. The model was produced in a number of different colour combinations, such as black/yellow, white/blue, red/white, black/red and yellow/blue, and the so-called "anniversary model" with the colour red/blue.
