Tires, tubes and rims
Tire sizes for vintage mopeds are not always easy to understand, as the same tire size has been referred to in different ways over the years. With the old method, it is the outer diameter of the tire that is stated, while with the newer method, it is the inner diameter of the tire that is stated.
The most common old tire dimensions that occur are listed below.
The only tire that is still manufactured according to the old method is 24", all others have been updated to the more modern one.
Old measure - New measure
20 x 2.50 - 2.50x15"
21 x 2.50 - 2.50x17"
23 x 2.25 - 2.25x19"
24 x 2 - 24x2
